Abstract

In this essay based on the classic film The blue angel by J.van Sternberg (Germany, 1930) the author analyses the reunion of several myths regarding the subject of the so called "femme fatale". The concept around "myths" and "mythology" are rediscussed and the literary myth woven around the Mann's family, especially Thomas and Heinrich, the second being the creator of the novel Professor Unrat (The waste professor) on which the film is based. Further on, the cinematographic myths created by the film, and his its famous director. Creation of the mythology that surrounds Marlene Dietrich which turned her into the famous diva and main exponent of cinematography of the "femme fatale". Al1 this introductory study leads to the psychoanalytic reflection about this sexual myth. The work discusses the psychic unconscious genesis of the eterna1 myth of the devouring woman, capable of leading a man to his destruction, which will evoke memories o phantas megorical masculine as primitive as it is widely spread. In many cultures. this myth is connected with another: the sphinx. in its maternal and phallic aspects, simultaneously sinister and protective; the sphinx finally tries to sustain the law of the prohibition of incest, renewer of culture.
