Reflexiones sobre la crueldad

Abstract

The prevailing social context compels us once again to attempt to reflect on those characteristics we possess as individuals that lead us to participate in acts that reach high levels of violence and suffering. We believe that it is necessary to look inside ourselves, not just outward, in other words, to attempt to develop an awareness of our own thanatotic and amorous drives and of to what extent laws and internal and external prohibitions, rather than maintaining the order, drive us to transgress it. Are there other outlets, other paths that we could take to construct rather than to destroy? That is part of the search.
