Abstract

The World Health Organization reported that one in 160 children worldwide has some form of autism, with an increase of 17% per year. In  Mexico, it is estimated that one in 115 children has autism. This paper, I seek to analyze the construction of identity from a childhood disorder. For this, historiography, being a critical discipline, allowed us to focus on discovering the intentions, beliefs and values that the authors originally held when studying the phenomenon of childhood autism in Mexico. The evolution of the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder could also be reasoned in order to understand the changes and continuities of the historical processes of children with autism spectrum disorder. Finally, it was understood that there has been a need to diagnose and classify everything that is outside of socially accepted behaviors.
