Abstract

The notion of biopolitics, coined by Michel Foucault to explain the relation between politics, body and life, became one of the most extended fields of philosophical and political thought. This productiveness is expressed in the recent publication of the courses that Foucault dedicated to the subject, in the diversity of approaches developed by the authors who studies it nowadays, and in the applications that allows to make thanks to the well-known transformations of biology and medicine in the last the three decades. This article carries out a balance of these interpretations and also proposes a line of demarcation of biopolitic’s phenomena in the light of the biomedical transformations mentioned. From this line of demarcation we postule the emergence of new biopolitic’s devices: the genetic device, the fitness device and the device of the perfect health.
