Abstract

This study deals with the interconnection, having transsexuality and transgenderism has the unit of analysis, between the aesthetics and the political and gender systems in two Latin-American capitals. It establishes the importance of the aesthetics of the body from an imaginary and imaginable perspective, its autonomous and heteronomous, conscious and unconscious settings and strategies, as depicted in both favourable and antagonistic theories of the social formations. The artistic work is viewed as one of the manifestations of the aesthetics in the discursive field of power relations and legitimacy of sexual diversity. The phenomenon is framed as part of the conditions of the contemporary worlds and our conception the much debated human models perspectives.
