Abstract

The work of Institutional Psychotherapy, both in St. Alban’s hospital and in La Borde, France, allowed the observation and conceptualization of a figure that was denominated in several ways: institutional vacuole, subject group, collective assemblage of enunciation. This figure had an analytical role in the hospital context, was constituted as analyzer of the dynamics of the hospital, as well as of the same society. The work of Georges Lapassade in the pedagogical field, but especially in the psychosociological intervention, not only meant a critique of the political implications of psychoanalysis in the hospital context, but also made it possible to observe the contradiction between the analyzer and the analyst. The purpose of this article is to show the differences of the concept of analyzer in the context of the approaches of Guattari and Lapassade. It also makes sense to extend the concept to the idea of the built-in analyzer, historical analyzer, and natural analyzer.
