Leprosy at the Middle Age and current obesity are diseases that have been socially stigmatized because the body manifestations and the no pathological causes attributed to them as well. The comparison between social perceptions that cause both diseases show that body has been, and still is, a constant symbol and a social agent of the behavior normative speeches in Western culture.
