Abstract

There is a recurrent item that pays the attention of many people all around the world: Tension between mass and individual. Mass appears as to be homogeneous, equal to everybody. In the other side of the tension, individualism means to think in nobody, pretend to be unique. But mass also refers to participation, be with the others; in the same way, individualism points to autonomy, to freedom. There is a need to redefine both concepts to try to fight against the system goal: to destroy the autonomous subject and the collective subject. This is a commitment that the elders owe to the new generations. In this paper I am trying to define and redefine these concepts in order to look for new ways of coexistence.
