Re-visiones del pasado y narrativas de otra generación
Abstract
Cinema –especially the documentary film genre– is one of memory’s main tools. Such tool is aimed at defining relationships and strains between stories and figures which, both in terms of their content as well as in their means of representation, express subjectivities, consolidate identities, chart strategies, delimit agreements, or determine the policies of collective memory. Some Argentine documentary films devoted to revisiting the past define memory as the sum of personal and aesthetic experience. By reviewing these formal operations, this paper evidences ways and forms in which generational tales recount the past, while at the same time it simultaneously reviews documentary film strategies in relation to that which could be called political identities of the new generation.
