Abstract

The present article includes some findings about the qualitative research “The Meanings of Feeding and Body Care: the Experience of Young People from Mexico City”. From a psychosocial perspective, the main assumption is that, beyond their functional and biological nature, feeding and body are complex sociocultural constructions to which every subject and social group give a specific meaning. Although the methodology and other basic elements of the research are briefly explained, the emphasis is on the contents about one of the three general categories that were built taking as a basis the discourse of the interviewed young people: “The body ‘care’”. Particularly, it is showed a summary of the global analysis about this topic, which consists on the integration of the empirical and theoretical data.
