Abstract
Taking as a point of departure a brief reflection on an institutional event experienced in Mexico in those official institutions of postgraduate studies, this text aims to develop a reflection on the task and role of the University in the contemporary political context. The reflection focus its attention in the contemporary transformation of the patterns of knowledge development and administration, the educative and research institutions and processes, in the political frames set by the new patterns of control and political administration in the political world context. The text stresses the relevance of the ethical nature of the institutional operation of the University and its effect upon the creation of knowledge.
