Abstract

In this article a historical revision of the concept of truth that Lacan uses in the Ecrits has been undertaken. To achieve that, seven articles in which Lacan clearly states his position on the subject were selected from the Ecrits. Although Lacan attacks the problem from a philosophical perspective, his proposal is rather psychoanalytical. In the Ecrits, three epistemological moments about the concept of truth can be found: 1) truth as being, from 1946 to 1950; 2) truth as revelation, from 1953 to 1957; and 3) truth in its difference with knowledge, from 1960 to 1965. The fist two moments are deeply influenced for some other thinkers (Descartes, Heidegger, Freud and Lévi-Strauss), but in the last one a synthesis of the lacanian school of thought, as well as a personal position regarding the concept of truth, can be found
