Mujer y decisión. Una perspectiva familiar

Abstract

This paper examines different decision making processes in Uruguayan women, departing from the unconscious agreements and commitments they assume in their links. Gaining an insight on familiar decision-making offers a means to design therapeutic strategies. Three clinical vignettes are used to establish the ability of each family to promote decision-making in its members and to overcome a symbolic sexist structuring. Examining and using a more flexible approach when dealing with social allocations contributes creating new alternatives in family links, which usually result in a change in values such as solidarity and equity.
