Abstract

San Miguel Acuexcomac is a peasant community of Nahua origin. Itislocated 35 km southeast of the capital of the state of Puebla. Even though the trasnational migration has propitiated the organization of the scheme of the communitary life in more than one locality, the migrants return to marry. Today news practices intersect the traditional ritual of asking for the brides hand in marriage (pedida) through which those from San Miguel recreate the customs (las costumbres) withing the context of life's new scenes.
