El estado de la psiquiatría en la España de 1990
Abstract
The text summarizes, in a clear and concise way, the development of Spanish psychiatry from 1960 through 1990. The author reviews the work of specialists in the field who have come to form a new psychiatric culture. However, the author does consider, in a critica1 light, the process of devastation wrought by the "Psychiabic Reform" of the 80's, which interrupted ongoing attempts at institutional transformations. Ramon Garcia thus acknowledges that Spanish psychiatry has not undergone significant changes with respect to the theoretically eclectic, clinically kraepelian and asistentially manicomial character it had in the 60's.
