Abstract

A critical social analysis in social science has led to a characterization of contemporary western societies as eminently narcissistic. This paper is derived from this premise and seeks to deal with narcissism as an avatar of bonding. This means it is considered a complex set of processes that define and shape the group as a problem for analysis. Starting with an overview of narcissism in psychoanalytic theory, the notion of a subjective dialogic is discussed as means to permanently discern and embrace the other as distinct and different.
